“The Police play an important role in supporting operators and drivers from the ever increasing criminality that takes place at laybys and also at service areas. In the matter of road safety, the Police play an active role in dealing with all drivers who persist in using mobile phones at the wheel as well as dealing with those drivers who persist in drink or drug driving. In conjunction with the support of National Highways they patrol the roads of the UK using three unmarked tractor units. DVSA are the enforcement authority for HGV and PCV operators within the UK, the DVSA are supported by specialist HGV Police enforcement teams.
